Born on November 22, 1925 to Victor E. Biagiotti and Gertrude (Harriet) Biehner Biagiotti, Robert’s life encompassed 95 years of the most exciting times to live. Growing up in Astoria, his earliest memories recall the marvels of his neighbor’s Essex automobile with wood spoked wheels, rubber tires and plate glass windows. As a young man, his interest was attuned to the emerging technology of the times. He worked as a radio technician, then switched to the brand new world of television and repaired the TVs of many notable people, including Cardinal Spellman of New York. Soon after, he joined Grumman Corporation in the field of instrumentation, and was drawn into the mission to put man on the moon. The highlight of his many years of Grumman was his support of the LEM (Lunar Module) and its landing on the moon and later success in bringing the crew of Apollo 13 safely home. Robert was very happily married to Eleanor Janosick (deceased 2000), on May 18, 1950. They had two wonderful children, Carol Biagiotti Griggs (married to James Griggs) and William Robert Biagiotti (married to Jean Kainzbauer), treasured for producing the “best grandchildren ever”: Laurel Griggs Larsen, Alyssa Griggs Breid (married to Aaron Breid), Jessica Biagiotti, Kaitlin Biagiotti, Alexander Griggs, and great-grandson Cairn Larsen. Robert was close to his family, his dear Barbara Radszeiweit, and all his friends and relatives. He loved nothing better than to hear all the adventures of his grandchildren and great grandchild. Robert loved the beauty of the earth and magic of the unknown. He was a man of great faith, and will be greatly missed. Funeral mass for Robert Biagiotti will be at St. Francis Cabrini in Coram, NY on March 20, 2021 at 10:00 AM, with interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery to follow.
